Let’s Speak Diversity! Campaign Hubs granting

We are pleased to share that, as part of the closing stage of the Let’s Speak Diversity! Work Plan 2024 project, JEF Europe will be funding five Campaign Hubs across Europe until December 8th 2024 at the latest.

About the Hub Campaigns

These five events will build on JEF Europe’s campaign  “Be a Federalist Ally”, which will be updated to focus on inclusion, transitioning from allyship to coalition building. The goal is to create hubs in different parts of Europe, support JEF sections to connect with minority communities and design together, following the groundwork laid out through previous activities, a campaign on how to cooperate and build more inclusive societies that empower minority youth in youth-led organisations, and make JEF an example to follow when in comes to minority  representation in Europe. This activity was designed to multiply the effect of the learnings from the previous activities, concretely implement them in a youth-led organisation  and ensure the sustainability of the project’s achievements in the long-run.

The selected JEF sections will be responsible to build a campaign in their communities that both spreads through the media and comes up with concrete actions that can be used in education systems and by local policymakers. This aim is supported by three objectives:

  • Facilitate engagement and cooperation between local JEF sections and minority youth in their local context, based on the deep democracy approach;
  • Build campaigns highlighting the challenges faced by minority communities and concrete steps to be taken to build stronger and fairer societies;
  • Draft proposals to be used in local education systems and policy making, to create policies and educational environments that celebrate the voices of minority youth.

The main aim of the micro-grants:

As part of the final phase of the Let’s Speak Diversity! project, this granting scheme serves as an impactful means for volunteers on the ground to employ the skills that they acquired during the training sessions and turn them into a campaign that can help build inclusive communities by raising awareness while involving local organisations working with ethnic and linguistic minorities or Roma youth.

The participants will be invited to present their involvement in the Work Plan and share lessons learnt from their locally implemented advocacy actions. This event will equip the participants with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to engage in sustainable democratic activism and be active civic “multipliers” that inspire others to follow their example at the European, national and local level. They will also have the opportunity to expand their networks in order to strengthen the impact of their future actions. The impact is expected to be both in the way JEF sections work and youth organisations widely work.

Application process

All JEF Europe sections can apply on multiple levels, from the local, to the regional and national ones. Hubs must take place in Council of Europe countries due to the nature of funding.

To apply, you will have to fill this online form until 1st of November 2024 at 23.59 CET.

The selection committee will choose a maximum of 5 applications based on needs and motivation that will benefit the most from this project, as well as in the level of involvement of partners working on Roma, or ethnic and language minorities. The maximum amount of grant is 1 900 EUR per hub, to be distributed in the following way:

  • Travel costs of participants: 750 €
  • Accommodation and meals of participants: 750 €
  • External trainer services (including VAT): 200 €
  • Use of spaces for the event (rooms): 260 €

The campaign hubs must take place before December 9th 2024. No cost incurred after December 2024 can be considered as eligible for the grant.

N.B. that trainers must be external to the organisation and JEF.

Financing instalments:

After a successful application, the selected sections/participants will have to fill a payment request for pre-financing 50% of the allocated grant for the activity (950 EUR). Upon successful implementation and duly reporting to JEF Europe, the second instalment will be sent.

The campaign hub must be fully funded on its own (co-funding is not allowed) and it must be strictly related to the topic of ethnic and linguistic minorities. All planned costs will have to be double-checked and approved by the JEF Europe team. Following the EYF Guidelines, the organiser of the activity cannot receive any compensation from organising the event.

As outputs, the organisers for the campaign hubs must keep and send a signed list of participants, a final narrative and financial report and all the original receipts via post (all the templates will be provided by JEF Europe and continuous support will be given throughout the implementation of the project in order to meet these deliverables)

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to JEF Europe project coordinator Sophie Lopez via email before the deadline: sophie.lopez@jef.eu and to JEF Europe Secretary General, Brigita Krasniqi  sg@jef.eu
