JEF Europe – Young European Federalists is recruiting a Communications Intern as the newest addition to our European Secretariat! Join our young, dynamic team in the heart of Brussels, and play a part in actively contributing towards shaping the future of Europe!
The role of the Communications Intern will primarily be a supportive position, aimed at gradually giving the candidate more and more space to expand their role, competences and responsibilities in the office and organisation.
JEF Europe’s Communication Tasks:
- supporting the Communications officer in the day-to-day work in the Communications office;
- supporting in the daily design of social media posts;
- supporting in the daily strategizing of digital communication efforts;
- supporting in the management of our multiple social media channels;
- supporting in the management of our multiple websites and online databases;
- supporting in the curation, design and compilation of our bi-weekly newsletters;
- supporting in the creation and design of video-based content, primarily Instagram Reels;
- supporting in the management of Google Admin Tools, linked to the JEF.EU domain;
- supporting in the design, creation and ordering of JEF Europe Merchandise;
- supporting in the active monitoring of data relating to social media performance;
- supporting in the curation and harmonisation of JEF Europe’s visual identity across the network.
Other Tasks within the Office:
- support in the brainstorming and execution of creative digital communication strategies;
- support in the development and execution of large-scale, political campaigns on social media;
- support in the active distribution of content and information related to the goals of the organization through multiple external platforms;
- aid in the creation of stickers, GIFs, and memes, to be used by members via GIPHY on Messenger & WhatsApp;
- aid in the development of digital workspaces, in task-driven digital platforms such as Notion;
- support in the training and assistance of section-related issues;
- support in the cross-organisational communications support offered by JEF to other international networks in the youth sector;
- support in the creative curation of content.
Time investment:
Working time of 38 hours per week. Work during weekends may occur whenever necessary with time off in lieu as compensation. Depending on the development of the current COVID-situation and the ability to organise international events, the position may require travels in Europe several times during the internship.
Type of contract and salary:
- Internship contract of 6 months (Convention d’immersionProfessionnelle) – Possibility to prolong for 6 more months.
- Approx. 1.000€ net per month
- Monthly ticket for public transport in Brussels (50€ / month) + travel reimbursement when travelling for JEF Europe
- Health insurance package (complementary to the individual Belgian mutuelle)
Candidate’s Qualifications:
- Fluent in English, and a very good command of at least another EU language;
- Relevant degree (communications, marketing, project management) is considered an advantage;
- Experience using simple design tools such as Canva is a must;
- Experience in design, with experience in Adobe Tools being considered a major asset;
- Experience using WordPress will be considered an advantage;
- Interest in developing effective communication strategies, and learning how to implement several ‘growth-hacking’ techniques on social media;
- Knowledge of data-driven strategies, and experience collecting and analysing data will be considered an asset.
Candidate’s Professional and technical competencies:
- Considerable knowledge of major social media platforms, specifically Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok and GiPHY is a must;
- Good understanding of graphic design is considered an asset;
- Familiarity with website building tools and the importance of SEO;
- Ability to create video-based content is considered an asset;
- Skills in photography, videography and video editing is considered an asset.
