JEF Europe is organising a 6-day international activity on ‘Environmental sustainability practices in youth organisations’ in the framework of the GreenY project, funded by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
About GreenY:
JEF Europe with the project GreenY ‘Environmental sustainability practices in youth organisations’, aims to combat climate change and environmental degradation by establishing good practices and raising awareness among members of youth organisations by developing a step-by-step checklist for their implementation.
The objectives of the project are the following:

- Develop the competences and skills of the participants on the environmental topic and enable them to express alternatives to implement more environmentally sustainable activities or events within the activities of their associations.
- Raise awareness and strengthen youth participation and collaboration within different youth organisations on the topic of the climate crisis and environmental degradation.
- Create a pool of experienced and trained multipliers on how to make local and national sections more environmentally sustainable.
- Continue working on achieving the internal directions on sustainable development set by the JEF Europe 2020 Activity Plan and the Green Transition Task Force.
About the International Activity:
The 6-day international activity will take place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) for 6 days, and will gather 20 young people from all over Europe. The programme will be structured into different day-by-day thematic and will offer the opportunity for the participants to develop their knowledge and their expertise to become multipliers actors in the field of environment. The thematics of the training will be the following:

- Day 1: Arrival and catch-up discussion on environmental sustainability.
- Day 2: Policy perspectives on climate change.
- Day 3: Youth and climate change.
- Day 4: Environmental non-formal educational methodology and study visit.
- Day 5: Development plans for local actions and GREEN-Y checklist.
- Day 6: Finalising the plans for the follow-up actions and evaluations.
In addition, JEF Europe will organise a preparatory meeting at the end of August/beginning of September (dates tbc) with the selected participants to provide a brief explanation of the project’s objectives, a recap session of the webinars and to get to know each other before meeting in Ljubljana .
Ahead of the International Activity, 3 webinars will be organised in July (dates to be confirmed by mid-June) on different topics related to environment and good sustainable practices.
Profile of the participants:

- Being aged between 18 and 35 years old (some exemptions may be made during selection);
- Being able to work and communicate fluently in English;
- Being available for the 3 webinars of 2-hours taking place in July (dates to be confirmed by mid-June);
- Being available for the preparatory meeting in late August/September with the trainers;
- Interested in the project activities and in developing knowledge to work on the topic of the environment;
- Experience in implementing youth events/activities;
- Being an active member in their youth organisation and motivated to local follow-up activities in the environmental field after the end of the seminar.

What we are offering:

- A six-day international educational seminar.
- Accommodation and food covered for 6 days in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Fee and finances

- The participation fee is 50 euros for covering all on-site expenses.
- The travel reimbursement is going to be made after the end of the event upon provided tickets and receipts.
