Press release: JEF Europe Federal Committee launches #IChooseEurope campaign for the European Parliament Elections with national sections in London

During last weekend more than 100 members of the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) gathered in London for its bi-annual statutory meeting – the Federal Committee (FC) – where the organisation agrees on its political direction.

During this intense FC, JEF members have agreed on a record number of crucial political positions. The seven political resolutions and three internal resolutions now represent the voice of 13.000 young Europeans and are now part of the mandate of JEF members and its Executive Board to advocate for change in Brussels as well as on national and local levels during the European election campaign. The adopted resolutions establish JEF Europe’s position on topics such as Digital Europe, Fiscal Union, Brexit, the protection of rule of law, circular economy, foreign policy towards Russia.

Internal resolutions adopted in London set the framework to create JEF Europe’s Pool of Trainers, as well as work towards increased diversity and inclusion within the network.

This weekend has also been dominated by the federalists’ campaign for the Europe Elections 2019 “I Choose Europe” that was launched a week before in Paris: “In two and a half months European citizens will be confronted with an important decision – to cast a vote for their common European future, or to stay aside and look how their future is taken away by nationalists and illiberals. Our vision is clear – your vote gives you power to change the course of the debate. Do not miss this chance to help creating a better Europe, a better future – choose Europe!”, says Leonie MARTIN, Vice-President of JEF Europe.

The initiative is building on a strong coalition of youth and volunteer-led civil society organisations and a network of political stakeholders and regional authorities, and is structured around two phases: the lead-up to the European Parliament elections 2019 and their follow-up after May 2019.
