Call for JEF Europe’s Finance and Administration Officer |

The Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) are recruiting a Finance and Administration Officer for the European Secretariat of the organisation, in Brussels.

Main tasks:

  • Daily follow-up of invoices, expenses, income of the organisation;
  • Liaising with Belgian administrations and agencies (Partena Professional, Eurodyssey, Bruxelles Formation, insurances, Moniteur Belge, Banque Carrefour des Entreprises), updating JEF Europe’s information in case of changes (e.g. payroll, addresses, new employees…), and drafting documents to communicate them when needed;
  • Supporting the Secretary General in HR related activities (updating internal work regulations, helping with keeping track of staff holidays and time off requests, etc.)
  • Contribution to JEF Europe’s campaigns, activities and programmes, e.g. Democracy under Pressure, Federalist Academy, 50th anniversary activities;
  • Co-writing operating grant applications and project applications;
  • Supporting JEF events and projects

Essential qualifications and qualities:

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;
    • Excellent command of English (C1);
    • Relevant experience in financial management;
    • Command of French at native or near native level, to liaise with the various administrations and service providers in Belgium;
    • Knowledgeable about Belgian administrations applicable to a Brussels-based NGO, or fast-learner with administrative ease;
  • An activist mindset and strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of JEF Europe;
  • Effective and succinct approach to tasks;
  • Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative;
  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job;
  • Team player and comfortable in an international environment;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…), collaborative tools (G Suite, Slack…) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Google Meets…)

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in civil society organisations, especially in back office positions
  • Knowledge of JEF, its network, values, structure, mission, activities – being a member of JEF is an asset

Contract conditions and remuneration:

  • 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;
  • Full-time, 38 hours/week;
  • Monthly gross salary: €1900 with additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €100€ of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers);
  • Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
