On 19th of November 2024 we are taking note of it being 1000 days since Russia started its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The sacrifices of Ukraine’s people throughout these 1000 days have been immeasurable and a tragedy for all of Europe. As the new Commission cabinet is being confirmed, the incoming US administration is threatening to cut aid from Ukraine while Russia is pressuring for quick concessions. Europe must not give into these calls for appeasement. If we are to ensure long-lasting peace on our continent, Europe must take a firm stance against Russian aggression and provide Ukraine the tools it needs to achieve victory!

JEF Europe reiterates our call with the National Youth Council of Ukraine on 24 February urging Europe’s leaders to ensure that war does not become the new normal and:

1. Urges the EU and Member States to provide all the necessary military, diplomatic, humanitarian and economic help needed by Ukraine to defend itself;

2. Demands all Russian forces to withdraw immediately from the territory of Ukraine;

3. Calls on the EU to maintain diplomatic pressure and sanctions against the Russian Federation;

4. Reiterates the need for a European Defence Union;

5. Urges the EU to help Ukraine in its efforts to become a member of the EU as soon as possible.Today, and as long as necessary: Слава Україні!
