Call for JEF Europe Communication Officer

JEF Europe – Young European Federalists is recruiting a Communication Officer for the European Secretariat of the organisation in Brussels.
Main tasks:
- Daily coordination of communication activities of JEF Europe (social media, campaigning, internal communication)
- Working on the campaign of JEF Europe for the European elections in 2024 in both strategy and implementation
- Preparation of content for and management of JEF Europe website
- Preparation of template for press-releases, newsletters, PR and articles for political stands of JEF Europe
- Coordination of projects/campaigns with other staff members and Executive Board members of JEF Europe
Essential qualifications and qualities:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position
- Excellent command of English (C1) – a very good command of at least another EU language is an asset
- Previous working experience in communications – having worked for an NGO or a political organisation is an asset
- Interest in developing and implementing the communication strategy of an international youth political community
- Very good knowledge of social media networks (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc)
- Good knowledge of working with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc) and Wordpress
- Good knowledge of all Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), collaborative work tools (Zoom, Google docs, Trello, etc.) and newsletter tools (SendinBlue or Mailchimp)
- An activist mindset and strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of JEF Europe;
- Being passionate about membership-based youth organisations and volunteering
- Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative
- Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills
- Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job
- Team player and comfortable in an international environment
- Organised and precise approach to work
Highly valued:
- Knowledge of JEF, its network, values, structure, mission, activities – being a member of JEF is an asset
- Previous experience in membership-based and/or youth organisations (volunteer experience included)
Time investment:
Working time of 38 hours per week. Work during weekends may occur whenever necessary with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travels in Europe several times during the year.
Contract conditions and remuneration:
- 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;
- Full-time, 38 hours/week;
- Monthly gross salary: €1900 with additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €100 of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers);
- Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
