Call for JEF Europe Programme Manager

JEF Europe –Young European Federalists is recruiting a Programme Manager to work in the European Secretariat of the organisation in Brussels.

Main tasks:

  • Conceptualising and planning of projects (grantwriting, content, budget, logistics) 
  • Managing or sharing the tasks of managing projects of JEF Europe, working with a wide variety of donors from the public and private sector
  • Coordination, dialogue and cooperation with project partners, sometimes from a variety of sectors (youth organisations, CSOs, public bodies, educational institutions, etc.)
  • Seeking out new relevant project funding opportunities in a strategic manner
  • Building partnerships relevant for creating project consortia focusing on key topics for JEF Europe
  • Monitoring and management of project budgets and administration
  • Organising events of JEF Europe (e.g. international meetings and educational events)
  • Follow-up and reporting of projects (financial and narrative)
  • Coordinating and harmonising the projects of JEF Europe, creating and maintaining a coherent activity programme for the organisation also in line with strategic goals
  • Coordinating the day-to-day work of the projects team
  • Overseeing the application, implementation and reporting of other projects managed by the projects team
  • Reporting on the activities of the projects team to the Secretary General
  • Ensuring the quality of implementation of JEF Europe’s project activities
  • Coordinating the dissemination strategy of projects with the Projects Team and the Communications Officer

Essential qualifications and qualities:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;
  • Excellent command of English (C1);
  • Experience in European project management from initiation to planning, implementation and reporting;
  • Experience with creating and monitoring project budgets;
  • Knowledge of funding schemes of the European Commission (e.g. Erasmus+, CERV, etc.), European Parliament, European Youth Foundation
  • Experience in managing long-term international projects (min. 2 years)
  • Experience with coordinating or acting in a senior role for a small team (2-4 people)
  • An activist mindset and strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of JEF Europe;
  • Being passionate about membership-based youth organisations and volunteering;
  • Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative;
  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job;
  • Team player and comfortable in an international environment;
  • Organised and precise approach to work;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), collaborative tools (G Suite, Slack) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Google Meet).

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of JEF, its network, values, structure, mission, activities – being a member of JEF is an asset;
  • Previous experience in membership-based and/or youth organisations (volunteer experience included)

Contract conditions and remuneration:

  • 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;
  • Full-time, 38 hours/week;
  • Monthly gross salary: €2200 with additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €150 of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers);
  • Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
