Jean Monnet House (Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, France) | 8 - 11 May 2024
From the 8th to the 11th of May 2024, the European Parliament together with the University of Barcelona’s European Observatory on Memories (EUROM), the Altiero Spinelli Institute and the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe), is organising the second edition of the European School on Memories.
The seminar will be taking place at the Jean Monnet House in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne (France), 45 kilometres west of Paris. The venue is a farmhouse where Jean Monnet – one of the EU’s founding figures – resided and developed his visions of European unity.
About the event
The goal of the School on European Memories is to address the memory of the solidarity that led to a united Europe. For this second edition, the programme will address the history and memory of the 10th European Elections, highlighting its main facts and figures, as well as the engagement of social movements and citizenry on the campaigns. Through lectures, workshops and hands-on activities, participants will be acquainted with state-of-the-art research related to the European Elections. They will also gain tools for raising awareness on Europe’s past as the key towards informed choices for the present and future with a view placed on the upcoming European Parliament elections. The detailed programme will be communicated to the participants in due course.
Conditions for participation
The seminar organisers will provide onsite accommodation, meals and local transportation. Moreover, travel costs are reimbursed up to a limit of 175 euros. Participants should arrive at Paris in the afternoon of Wednesday 8 May. The seminar finishes at noon on Saturday, 11 May.
Participants from all European countries are invited to apply to the seminar.
