European School on Memories

Jean Monnet House (Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, France) | 21 - 24 May 2023

From 21 to 24 May 2023, the European Parliament together with the University of Barcelona’s European Observatory on Memories (EUROM) and the Altiero Spinelli Institute is organising a European School on Memories. The Young European Federalists (JEF-Europe) are invited to send a group of participants to the seminar.

The seminar takes place at the Jean Monnet House in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne (France), 45 kilometres west of Paris. The venue is a farmhouse where Jean Monnet – one of the EU’s founding figures – resided and developed his visions of European unity.

About the event

2023 marks the first edition of the European School on Memories. The 2023 seminar will focus on European elections since 1979, in view of the upcoming 2024 European Parliament election.

Through lectures, workshops and hands-on activities, participants will be acquainted with state-of-the-art research on memory studies. The participants will gain tools for raising awareness on Europe’s past as the key towards informed choices for the present and future.

The seminar will have ca. 30 participants. JEF-Europe will be able to send 15+ participants to the seminar. The detailed programme will be communicated to the participants in due course.

Conditions for participation

The seminar organisers will provide onsite accommodation, meals and local transportation. Moreover, travel costs are reimbursed up to a limit of 200 euros. Participants should arrive at the venue in the afternoon of Sunday 21 May. The seminar finishes at noon on Wednesday 24 May.

Participants from all European countries can apply to the seminar.

To apply to join the seminar, please fill the application form by 25 April at 23:59 CEST.
