Call for JEF Europe Project Officer

JEF Europe –Young European Federalists is recruiting a Project Officer to work in the European Secretariat of the organisation in Brussels.

Main tasks:

  • Conceptualization and planning of projects (grant writing, content, budget, logistics);
  • Responsibility over project implementation, including financial monitoring, budget management and contractual, legal and administrative tasks;
  • Responsibility over events organisation, e.g. international meetings, educational events, etc;
  • Follow-up and reporting of projects (both narrative and financial);
  • Seeking out new relevant project funding opportunities and potential donors;
  • Coordination, engagement, communication and cooperation with project partners from a variety of sectors (youth organisations, CSOs, public bodies, educational institutions, etc.);

Given the size of the JEF Europe Secretariat and the diversity of its activities, there might be support requested on occasion for different tasks to help colleagues, distribute workload and meet the targets of the organisation together as a team.

Essential qualifications and qualities:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;
  • Excellent command of English (C1);
  • Experience in European project management from initiation to planning, implementation and reporting;
  • Experience with creating and monitoring project budgets;
  • Knowledge of funding schemes from the European Commission (e.g. Erasmus+), European Parliament, Council of Europe’s European Youth Foundation;
  • An activist mindset and strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of JEF Europe;
  • Being passionate about membership-based youth organisations and volunteering;
  • Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative;
  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job;
  • Team player and comfortable in an international environment;
  • Organised and precise approach to work;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), collaborative tools (G Suite, Slack) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Google Meet).

Desirable:

  • Experience in long-term international projects (min. 2 years) is an asset
  • Knowledge of JEF, its network, values, structure, mission, activities – being a member of JEF is an asset;
  • Previous experience in membership-based and/or youth organisations (volunteer experience included);

Contract conditions and remuneration:

  • 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;
  • Full-time, 38 hours/week;
  • Monthly gross salary: €1955 plus additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €100 of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers, 13th month salary and holiday pay) – equaling approx. to 2000 – 2050 EUR net remuneration per month
  • Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
