UKRAINE’S FREEDOM IS EUROPE’S FREEDOM: NO EMPIRE CAN DICTATE THAT

Common statement by JEF Ukraine and JEF Europe on the 28-point-plan on Ukraine by the US administration:
The fundamental truth of diplomacy is that negotiations do not conclude with the announcement of difficult terms — they begin there. To influence outcomes, you must be present in the negotiation room. Yet on 20 November, the Trump administration released a proposed peace agreement for Ukraine that had been negotiated in secret with Russia — without Ukraine’s participation.
The ultimate demand of Ukraine to fully accept 28 points contradicts all principles of diplomacy, mocks International Law and provides injustice to Europe. It intends to impose foreign order on Ukraine which serves the aggressor Russia. In such turbulent times, Europe must remember the roots of its strength.
No EU state member will allow external dictating of rules at home, alteration the Constitution, or seizing territory. And no EU citizen can remain silent seeing such an attempt against Ukraine. A life in peace is not a privilege — it is an inborn right of every human being. It should not be acquired by handing your city to the aggressor or paying the commission to the USA from the post-war recovery.
Today, defending Ukraine means defending the very foundations of the European project: democracy, justice and freedom. We as Young European Federalists stand with Ukraine and firmly request the European Union:
- To reject the 28 points peace plan proposed by the Trump administration as an unacceptable offer;
- To fully support to Ukraine and Ukrainians in their long fight for the right to exist in peace in their homes;
- To require a ceasefire for enabling the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia with presence of EU representatives;
- To maintain the sanctions towards Russia until the complete withdrawal of military forces from the territory of Ukraine and the fulfillment of the terms of the peace agreement at least for three years after signing the agreement;
- To come up together with Ukraine with a proper peace plan based on principles of sovereignty and democracy, excluding any possibility to violate the International Law and trading the freedom; providing stable peace and ensuring the recovery of Ukraine.
We all must remember that peace cannot be gained by violence, and order cannot be provided by deception or manipulations. There is no room for rewriting truth or distortion of definitions. Together, we will provide a dialogue, not a demand, and peace, not a capitulation.
Together, we will build a better Europe.
